The National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP), in partnership with Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) and the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance (DCAF), held the 8th Security Sector Reform (SSR) Workshop on 27-28 June 2022.
With the theme, “Continuity and Change: Security Sector Governance and Reform (SSGR) amidst Political Transitions,” this year’s workshop sought to discuss SSGR efforts of the Duterte administration and predecessors, the challenges in the continuation of SSGR across different administrations, and the measures that could strengthen the institutionalization of SSGR efforts in the Philippines
Delegates from the military, civilian government agencies, civil society organizations, and the academe attended the event, which was held in blended mode (both onsite and virtual).
SSR is one of the major thrusts of the NDCP. The College conducts various SSR learning activities throughout the year.
In relation to SSR, the College positions itself as a hub of free, meaningful, and respectful discussions among participants from various sectors within and outside the government, regardless of ideological leanings and professional affiliations.
