On 10 November 2023, the National Defense College of the Philippines headed by the NDCP President, LTGEN Ferdinand M Cartujano PAF (Ret) together with the Master in National Security Administration Senior Executives Class 02 (MNSA SE 02), conducted a field study visit to the Philippine National Police National Headquarters (PNP-NHQ) and National Security Council (NSC).
At the PNP-NHQ, the delegation was briefed on the policies, programs, and activities of the PNP in support of national security as well as updates on PNP Plan 2030 and its significant milestones. The delegation was welcomed by PBGEN Ronald Lee, the Director for Human Resource and Doctrine Development.
At NSC, Undersecretary Benjamin Madrigal welcomed the NDCP delegation. The NSC briefed the NDCP about the Council’s history and mandate. Assistant Director General Ma. Carmina Acuña also gave a presentation about the newly crafted National Security Policy 2023-2028 (NSP). The NSC officials then sought support from the students as third-level government officials and private industry executives in working together for the thorough and inclusive formulation of a National Security Strategy (NSS).
The field study visit, under the module on Defense and Security Strategy (NSA 208), aims to complement lessons learned in the classroom with field visits and interactions, and for students to understand the processes taken by national security actors in strategic decision-making.
