The officers of the Executive Master in National Security Administration (E-MNSA) Program Pilot Class, led by its Class President, Assistant Secretary Joan Lagunda of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), visited the NDCP President, BGen Archimedes H Viaje AFP(Ret) PhD MNSA, on 4 August 2020.
Asec Lagunda, along with Assistant Secretary Antonio Joselito Lambino III of the Department of Finance (DoF), Director Tecson John Lim of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), and Mr Christopher Camba, First Vice President of Aboitiz Equity Ventures, expressed their gratitude to the College for providing a learning platform especially during the time of pandemic and quarantine. They also shared with the President, NDCP how the E-MNSA Program helps the students to balance their coursework with the demands of their respective professions. Having finished the initial sessions of the course, the E-MNSA class officers emphasized how their perspectives about and appreciation of national security have already expanded.
General Viaje underscored that the pilot class presents an opportunity for both the College and its students to learn from each other, and further improve the conduct of education amidst the challenges of the current times. He also encouraged the E-MNSA Pilot Class, through its officers, to keep up the momentum of learning amongst each other. The NDCP President said that present circumstances may be difficult, but a sense of purpose and motivation would pull them through.
Pursuant to the Department of National Defense (DND) Order Number 185 dated 30 June 2020, the National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP), through the Philippine Center of Excellence in Defense, Development, and Security (PCEDS), launched the pilot class of the Executive Master in National Security Administration (E-MNSA) Program last 17 July 2020.
The E-MNSA is a 39-unit master’s program on the theory and practice of national security. The pilot class is composed of 55 high-level government officials and senior managers from the private sector.
